BURGER SALON

(2020)

I am a firm believer that Art above all is communication. The progress of your communication style requires a lifetime of introspection and refinement. This series pushed me to my absolute limit, not just because of the laborious nature of the task at hand but because it challenged how I viewed my own process as I moved through it. Focusing on impressing viewers (with big narratives and high quantities of work) over genuine expression can only take someone so far. After curbing my obsessive impulses to make work like a fine tuned machine, I realized that these pieces together speak on what was meant to be communicated.

All works were painted by Jon Gusman with acrylic paint and ink on canvas.
